  Global Strategies for HIV Prevention

Global Strategies implements international strategies to prevent HIV infection and care for those affected by HIV by means of strategic alliances with those who share in a compassion for alleviating the suffering of women and children.

Along with the Clinton Foundation, Global Strategies supports the Children’s AIDS Clinic at the HEAL Africa hospital which monitors and administers medication to over 500 children who are HIV positive. Global Strategies also pioneered a Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission Program (PMTCT) which is the first of its kind throughout rural areas in Eastern Congo through HEAL Africa.

 IPOP- International Pediatric Outreach Program

IPOP assists local health care providers in addressing what they consider to be the most pressing problems of child health in their communities through education, research and material support. They collaborate with organizations in Goma, DRC and Saragur, India.

IPOP has sent a host of long term and short term volunteers to HEAL Africa to improve pediatric care and health systems at the hospital and in the community. They have also played an integral role in establishing continuing education for the HEAL Africa doctors.

In 2009 International Pediatric Outreach Project will send physical therapists Loran Hollander and Laura Keyser to help local providers begin to address vast rehabilitation needs.

Loran and Laura will implement a curriculum that includes 100 hours of formal didactic instruction as well as one-on-one clinical mentorship in the rehabilitation clinics of Heal Africa Hospital and the Hospital for the Handicapped.  They will train both orthopedic officers and physical therapists in the identification, management, and prevention of the common musculoskeletal and neurological impairments in this region.

 Hope Walks

Hope Walks began with a passion to raise awareness of the growing number of children and orphans affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Hope Walks is an educational and fund raising walk that provides an opportunity for children, their families and friends to make a difference in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children worldwide.

HEAL Africa is the recipient of funds raised from several different walks across the US. The contributions help fund the Children’s AIDS clinic at the HEAL Africa hospital as well as several programs that assist orphans and families affected by HIV AIDS.
